Just wanted to start a poll and see what others think of the APBT. I could debate this topic for days so if you feel inclined please post your thoughts and we can have a friendly debate. Thanks!

I'm not particularly knowledgable on pits HC, so I'm not going to vote and skew the poll results.
I take it you are in the "maybe" camp? Can you explain?

Absolutely. I vote maybe because the APBT has a reputation of being a mean and vicious dog. But what few people know is, though they were bred for fighting, they were never bred to show that aggression towards people. Often dogs would be disqualified from fights because they didn't obey the orders of their owners. Due to this Pit Bulls have become very obedient towards humans. They do have a greater chance of being more dog aggressive then other breeds but you can do things to help prevent that when they are puppies. Most the time when a person gets attacked by a dog in today’s society it is a result of the dog being abused in some form or another by its owner or the result of over breeding the dogs (that means that you take a dog that has shown that it should not be bred for behavioral reasons and is bred anyway). I just want to see what others think of the subject because I was totally in the dark about APBT until I decided to educate myself on factual statistics rather then what the news stations portray. Also another important fact to remember; most pit bull attacks that are reported by the news are not pit bulls at all. often times they are mix breeds of dogs or another breed all together. be cautious of the media they are not dog experts! Do you think that he could hurt a fly. Well, maybe a fly. This is Peerless and Suge just chillin!

I don't know much about pits, so I won't vote.
All I hear is about the negative stuff they say about them in the news everytime one bites someone, but I do believe that it is most likely the owner who has made the dog that way.
Cute dog.

Cute dog. that makes a lot of since cause most people hear the media and feel that way but most often the media is wrong and the pit bull is blamed for things that they didn't do. but the truth is when a pit bull does attack it is mostly because of the treatment they had when they were raised.

It is so true that many pit bull attacks reported in the news were not actually pit bulls at all. Pit bulls are naturally dominant animals so if they are neglected or abused they definitely have the potential to be dangerous animals. I do believe that the dogs enviornment effects their behavior but I also believe that pit owners must be more cautions in certain situations no matter how well they have raised their dog. But no matter what Staffys and Pits are by far the cutest dogs EVER
