Seattle.... (Read if your bored like me! Kinda long)
We started out our trip with a 5:50am flight from BWI (Got up at 3am) On the way out it was really damn foggy which was unbeknownst to us a very very bad thing. Got to BWI with plenty of time to spare went to the gate nothing was open- no food, no bar nothing. At 5 Roy Rogers opened up so we got breakfast. Sat down to eat and 2 mice run out from under our feet, breakfast over.
Went to the gate with 20 mins till the flight. Our flight was almost ALL Redskins fans- about 40 on a 50 seat plane to Philly that connects to a flight to Seattle. The gate crew announces that due to heavy fog in Philly we are delayed. We were supposed to have a hour layover there so a delay was not bad but slightly concerning. We take off 30 mins late but the crew assures us its just a 17 minute flight so we will be "fine" The 17 min flight turns into 45 minutes and we land the same time out connecting flight is to depart. Gate agent who meets us says since there are so many of us connecting to the Seattle flight they will hold the flight while we get there. We all rush over to the gate and when we get there there is nothing... No plane, no gate agent nothin. Off to the US Air flight services desk to get re-routed, all 40 of us. The first people there were lucky, they got the few remaining seats on closely departing flights. We however get fucked. Next flight for us is not 5 hours away and that is to Charlotte then to Seattle after a 3 hour layover in Charlotte. The Bar is open.
At the bar in Philly with a bunch of skins fans 8am. 8am - perfect time for beer and burgers. What else ya gonna do with 5 hours in an airport. 5 hours goes by faster than i thought it would (and more expensive than i thought also). Depart for Charlotte- drunk.
At Charlotte drunk 2pm- the perfect time for a beer... what else ya gonna do for 3 hours in ANOTHER airport. This time 3 hours is gone very fast.. real drunk now. Plane departs at some point and thankfully i pass out on the way to Seattle.
8:45pm FINALLY in Seattle Get out bags and off we go tired as hell and not so much drunk but in a odd hazy state of mind. We went right to a bar to meet with some ES fans. As i walk in i walk up to a table of Skins fans and one of them says "Hi, Ken Cooley, Chris Cooley's father nice to meet you" So im tired and not in the mood to be BS'd with so i don't believe him. He shows me his jersey that says something like "To the best dad, Chris # 47" I still don't but it so i quiz him on Chris' history- he knows it all ( or he seems to since i sure as hell dont know it!!) The kicker was his ID that showed he was in fact from Montana and he had pics of Chris at Utah. Ok so im now drinking with Chris Cooley's dad and his family. They were all very cool and the same old cliché "very down to earth" just like Chris. Stayed till last call with them and invited them to the tailgate the next day (no way they are coming i figure). We go back to the hotel and i am sleeping within 2 minutes- its been a long day and i have been drunk 3 times.
Saturday morning 7am tailgate time.
Stopped by the very first starbucks for a coffee.. hmm tastes like all of them. Get to the tailgate at 7:45 and the lot is filling up fast. Fans dont like our skins fan as we drive by, but they cant say much to us as they have nothing on us as we beat them and come on its the Seahawks, what have they done... EVER!
8am setting up with about 15 Skins fans. The feeling is very electric there, everyone is hyped to be there. The tailgate grows to 30 by 9am and 40 by 10. Just after 10 sure enough there is Chris Cooley's dad! How cool! He walks up to me says hi and asks where the beer is! 10:30 we are up to 60 or 70 Redskin fans we start repeatedly singing hail to the redskins. The Seattle fans don't like us, we are a massive group in the middle of their main tailgate strip. Lots of trash talking back and forth now. (The DTC West, but not really) So this "crew" walks by with their megaphones ALA Mayor yelling all kinds of crap, sadly i think the best thing he could come up with was the "foreskins" it was a weak showing. The Skins tailgate drowns him out with Hail to the Redskins.
Tailgate turns ugly. There we all are at 11:30 or so having fun drinking and playfully jawing at the Hawk fans (who for the must part were cool fans) when a canister lands in the middle of us and starts shooting out red smoke- some loser had brought a military size smoke bomb. Now you never know how to react to something like this and its hard as hell to see in that kind of smoke but one of the guys with us picked it up and hurled it back at the area where it came from- awesome. 30 secs later it came back to us and we just tossed it on the roof of a near by building... in the end that was smart nothing good was gonna come out of throwing it back again.
Time for the game. Walking to the stadium the Hawk fans had a big fire going and as we walked by they were like "hey Redskins fans look at this" as he tossed a sweatshirt into the fire. Classic moment here- i run up grab it out of the fire and run off with the sweatshirt on fire and put it out. Not one hawk fan did a thing, the must have been shocked or didn't feel like playing tug of war with a burning sweatshirt and a drunk guy. The sweatshirt is a nice trophy all burned and charged up but still in one piece.
Inside. Fans inside are all over us, but its odd for the most part they just boo you-Its strange. I dont think these people know to much about football really only 40% of the stadium is season ticket holders and that shows. We however were in front of some good hawk fans who knew what the hell they were talking about. No need to tell the story of the game. Seattle was the better team today. Skins had some chances to steal the game but they didnt. Missed INT, Missed FG, a few bad plays, but IMO they just got outplayed on this day.
All in all a great trip, i have tons of pics that i will try and share soon. Im up to go to any away game next season too so let me know if you all plan anything. Sept looks so far away right now but it will be here soon enough. Looking forward to a great 06 Season for the Skins and another year of great tailgates with you all!

the flight back.. scheduled at 7:45am we got to the airport to find out there had been a time change to 6:30 am- we missed that one too. We had to be routed through Phoenix on the way home! apparently they "called" us to inform us of the time change.
